The 1968 Lazy Ike fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the Lazy Ike Corporation out of Fort Dodge, Iowa.  By 1968, Lazy Ike was no longer owned by Kautzky and was expanding their line of Lazy Ike baits as they were growing their business.  Lures they made are popular with fishermen and collectors yet today.  Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.

This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Historical Notes from the 1968 Lazy Ike Catalog

The legend still begins in 1938, stay tuned to future catalogs for more on that.  A great classic assortment of the traditional Lazy Ike lures.  It is very interesting to note this is catalog 868 and is the 1968 catalog.  Shipped out in May of 1969.  Pay close attention as we move to the 1969 or next catalog as something strange happened there and it happened to be mailed to the same exact person.  Not sure if a coding slip in the catalog at Lazy Ike or something else.  More to come...   Overall this is a nice catalog and not an easy one to find.
