Lazy Ike 1969 Catalog
1969 Lazy Ike Fishing Lure Catalog

The 1969 Lazy Ike fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the Lazy Ike Corporation out of Fort Dodge, Iowa. By 1969, Lazy Ike was no longer owned by Kautzky and Lazy Ike Corp. was expanding their line of Lazy Ike baits as they were growing their business. Lures they made are popular with fishermen and collectors yet today. Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.
This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Historical Notes from the 1969 Lazy Ike Catalog
I believe this is the 1969 catalog. Even though it is marked 868, the second catalog version marked 868 (1968 being the other). When you compare the two you notice the later postmark date of December of 1969 on this one versus May of 1969 on the 1968 catalog. Additionally they were shipped to the exact same person, likely a dealer. The other thing to note is that the prices are adjusted higher in the 1969 (868) catalog vs. the 1968 (868) catalog.
All of this leads me to believe this is the 1969 catalog and Lazy Ike just forgot to change that code. Of course someone could come out with a different 869 catalog and prove me wrong but I have yet to see one.
Other notes on this catalog... The cover of this one is my all-time favorite Lazy Ike catalog cover. Just a classic view of their baits. Their selection in this catalog is a great sampling of the classics. Overall this is a nice catalog and not an easy one to find.
