Lazy Ike 1967 Catalog
1967 Lazy Ike Fishing Lure Catalog
The 1967 Lazy Ike fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the Lazy Ike Corporation. By 1967, Lazy Ike was no longer owned by Kautzky and was expanding their line of Lazy Ike baits as they were growing their business in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Lures they made are popular with fishermen and collectors yet today. Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.
This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Collector Tip
Collect what you like. Whether 100 year old wooden baits with glass eyes or twenty year old plastic baits, it doesn't matter. This hobby is great and inclusive of eveyone and whatever you want to collect. I personally collect all kinds of baits from just a few years ago to the beginning of the industry and my collection changes all the time. My very first interests were Flex Ikes by Lazy Ike and they are still some of my favorites. So you do you!

Historical Notes from the 1967 Lazy Ike Catalog
On page two they show the new Lazy Ike headquarters but maybe more interesting is their self proclaimed statement "Since the first day that Lazy Ike was whittled out of a block of wood in 1938, the legend of Lazy Ike has grown." There have been lots of supposed dates and ranges of the start of Lazy Ike but this is the first published date I have seen. That being said it is probably open for debate but at least we have a written date and a source.
The bottom of page three talks about the blue and purple becoming popular and now being available for special order on lures. Note the codes associated with these colors.
Below is the complete scanned 1967 Lazy Ike fishing lure catalog. Each page is shown in order so collectors and researchers can study the lure models, finishes, and tackle descriptions used by the Lazy Ike Corporation during this period.
