The 1970 Heddon fishing lure Pocket Catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the James  Heddon's Sons, a Division of Victor Comptometer Corp out of Dowagiac, Michigan.  Heddon was one of the most influential fishing lure manufacturers of the twentieth century. By 1970, Heddon had undergone ownership change but was still a giant in the fishing lure industry and continued to produce lures popular with anglers and collectors today.  Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.

This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Collector Tip

Pocket catalogs are great and can sometimes be tougher to find than the full size ones.  Don't discount them.  Great to collect and display.  They can also be different from the box insert catalogs.

Historical Notes from the 1970 Heddon Pocket Catalog

This is a great little catalog.  Different from their large one and bigger than ones that get added into lure boxes.  What is really interesting is collectors think of Heddon as a big lure company, which of course it was and is.  However, this 16 page catalog only devotes two pages, at the very end, to fishing lures.  The rest of the catalog is rods, reels and other items.  Heddon really was/is a giant in the industry.

Below is the complete scanned 1970 Heddon fishing lure Pocket Catalog. Each page is shown in order so collectors and researchers can study the lure models, finishes, and tackle descriptions used by the Heddon company during this period.
