Historical Notes from the 1964 Heddon Catalog
There are a lot of really cool items in this 1964 Heddon catalog. Some appear in others as well but I am going to point them out here. First up on page 3 is the Heddon Hall of Honor. A normal section but this one is anything but normal. Herbert Hoover is honored here. Yes that Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States serving from 1929 to 1933. Since this is the 1964 catalog I have to assume this was before he passed away later that year (October 20, 1964). Not often you see a U.S. President honored in a vintage fishing lure catalog.
New Products for 1964. I will let you read the Rods and Reels and focus on the Lures. They are the Twin Pal, Toni, Squirrel Tail Hep, Cobra, Sonic with Vibra Flash Colors and Packaging (which I will cover shortly).
Heddon does a really nice job throughout the mid-1960's of pairing their lures with the rods in those sections. Showing exactly what a fisherman should be combining.
Page 47 covers the aforementioned New Cobra and Vibra Flash Sonic colors.
Page 58 and 59 show some of Heddon's Famous Gold Band Worms. These are really underrated and underappreciated in both effectiveness and their contribution to angling history.
