Heddon 1962 Catalog-Trade Version
1962 Heddon Fishing Lure Catalog-Trade Version

The 1962 Heddon fishing lure Trade Catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the James Heddon's Sons, out of Dowagiac, Michigan. Heddon was one of the most influential fishing lure manufacturers of the twentieth century. By 1963, Heddon had undergone ownership change but was still a giant in the fishing lure industry and continued to produce lures, rods and reels popular with anglers and collectors today. Marketed as "World's Largest Producer of Artificial Baits and Custom Built Rods". Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.
This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Historical Notes from the 1962 Heddon Trade Catalog
This is a great trade catalog. It is deceiving coming in at 32 numbered pages. However when you take into account all of the pages stapled into the overall catalog it adds another 20 to get you to 52. It is just filled with great reels, rods and of course lures. Too many to point out here as you will find while browsing below. Some of the highlights include: New Heritage Reels, New Scandia Reels, New COLOR matched Rod and Reel sets and a great color chart on page 11.
New lures include the 420 and 425 Series Whis-Purr, 335 Series Tiny Chugger, 470 and 471 Series Fin-Jig and 261 Series Fin-Jig Heads. Page 13 shows off the often overlooked but highly effective Fin-Jig-Worms. The following page is a great page on the dealer racks. This is just a fantastic page for collectors to see. If you are lucky enough to own one of these, it gives you an idea of how to display your collection. (note those last two pages, 13-14, are repeated. That's not an error on my part. They were back to back in my catalog. Perhaps an error from the factory.)
In the lures section you will notice both the Heddon Hi-Tail and Dowagiac Spook. This is the last appearance year for both of them in the American catalogs. The Hi-Tail would make one more appearance in the 1967 Canadian catalog.1 The Dowagiac Spook would reappear in the Canadian 1967 and 1970 catalog along with the 1971 Swedish catalog.1 I have also found it in the 1968 Canadian catalog which you can see here (page 33). That makes me surmise it might also exist in a 1969 Canadian catalog once I find one.

Below is the complete scanned 1962 Heddon fishing lure Trade Catalog. Each page is shown in order so collectors and researchers can study the lure models, finishes, and tackle descriptions used by the Heddon company during this period.
Note: Page numbers do not match catalog page numbers. I ordered them in the number they were in the physical catalog including duplicates. Additionally I scanned blank pages as they appeared.
