Heddon 1968 Canadian Catalog
1968 Heddon Canadian Fishing Lure Catalog

The 1968 Heddon Canadian fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the James Heddon's Sons, a Division of Victor Comptometer Corp out of Dowagiac, Michigan. Heddon was one of the most influential fishing lure manufacturers of the twentieth century. By 1968, Heddon had undergone ownership change but was still a giant in the fishing lure industry and continued to produce lures popular with anglers and collectors today. Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.
This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Collector Tip
Understand that historic research changes and builds on top of itself. As books and research is done, it helps the next generation add to it and validate, or correct it. No book or research is perfect. The attempt is what is important.

Historical Notes from the 1968 Heddon Canadian Catalog
This one looks like the American 1968 catalog but comes in at only 40 pages long. That quirk gives it away as the Canadian version, along with the address on the back cover.
One of the key historic notes in this catalog is on page 33. The 9100 Dowagiac spook is offered for sale (also offered in the 1969 Heddon Canadian catalog). This lure was not offered since 1962 in the American catalog but then offered in the Canadian catalog from 1967-1970. A significant note.
Below is the complete scanned 1968 Heddon Canadian fishing lure catalog. Each page is shown in order so collectors and researchers can study the lure models, finishes, and tackle descriptions used by the Heddon company during this period.
