Lazy Ike 1984 Catalog
1984 Lazy Ike Fishing Lure Catalog

The 1984 Lazy Ike fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the Lazy Ike, now a Division of Dura-Pak Corporation. By 1984, Lazy Ike had been bought out of bankruptcy by Dura-Pak and was starting anew. This catalog shows both Lazy Ike and Creek Chub lures made in Sioux City, Iowa. It also now includes Marathon Tackle, Grizzly, and Barracuda Jigs.
Lures they made are popular with fishermen and collectors yet today. Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.

Historical Notes from the 1984 Lazy Ike Catalog
This is a time period that was tough on the industry and you saw lots of consolidation as companies struggled to stay alive. You also saw them do anything, including new products, packaging and trying ideas from parts laying around. The result is some crazy stuff for collectors now.
Just take a look at page 2 right away.. Lazy Ike French Spinners, Lazy Ike Spoons, then we jump into the classic Lazy Ike lures. Lots of goodies in this classic 1984 catalog. Many people may overlook this period but not Lazy Ike collectors. This period produced some nice and strange Lazy Ike and Creek Chub baits including at time some whacky packaging, some of which are extremely rare and tough to add to your collection.
Page 5 is the color chart. Take a good look, some very tough to find colors here. Page 7 will introduce the Striper Ike, not a lure you see often. Page 8 introduces the Wigly Frog. Page 11 covers the Creek Chubs and some nice and tough colors here as well.
Don't overlook the rest of the catalog on Marathon and Grizzly. You may want to familiarize yourself with it. In the following years you start to see these brands merge a little more and in the field you will find some cross-packaged items as well as the company was doing whatever it could to survive over the coming years.
Bonus content is the dealer price lists for 1984 with codes and stock numbers. Great information for collectors.
