Historical Notes from the 1975 Lazy Ike Catalog
Remember wayyyy back in the 1967 Lazy Ike Catalog? They were still owned by Lazy Ike Corporation then. Back then they stated the story of "Since the first day that Lazy Ike was whittled out of a block of wood in 1938, the legend of Lazy Ike has grown." Well this is why we need to be suspect of some of these exact dates.
Now the same company put out a catalog 8 years later and claims "In 1939, the first Lazy Ike was whittled from a block of wood...." I rest my case. Updated info? Folklore? Lazy research? Who knows. In any case, someone way back a long time ago whittled some wood or saw someone who did and the rest is history...
This is exactly why we must continue research but realize some of these things will never be settled 100%.
As for the catalog itself, this is an aweseme catalog. Fifty percent larger than most at 12 pages and chock full of Lazy Ike love. On the cover the short lived Hippy Spinner sharing the space with the classic KL-3 Red and White Lazy Ike. New packaging, some new lures you see such as the Snappertail, Snapper, Tail Shark, Hippy Spinners and more. All with the classic Lazy Ike KL Series from the KL-00 Fly Ike and KL-0 Tiny Ike, KL-1, KL-2 and KL-3 Lazy Ike, up to KL-4 Husky Ike. Fish catching machines.
Overall a very clean and well designed catatog and a tougher one to find.
