Historical Notes from the 1965 Heddon Trade Catalog
One really cool piece that caught my eye on this catalog is on the right side of page 2. There is an image of the a Heddon River Runt on a plaque. It is the award for Fishing's Deadly Dozen awarded by Popular Mechanic's Magazine. What is interesting is that we also know that Lazy Ike also got one of these and you can see it mentioned on our Lazy Ike page and here is a quick image of it. It would be amazing to somehow find all of these today, if they even still exist and put the collection together. A cool award for Heddon for sure at the time. If anyone knows what happened to the award itself, please reach out to me.
Page 47 talks about lures with the "New Vibra Flash Finish".
Page 58 is a must view for collectors. It features pictures of the Famous Heddon Pocket Kits including the Sonic Kit and Spin-Casting Kit. Eight kits in all are shown. A collection of all of these in a would make for a great display today!
Page 61 shows some great packaging images. The Heddon Twin Six Pac and some great dealer cards. Don't overlook pages 62-63 which has all of the great codes like the Rac-Pac, Twin Six Pac, and DC-DCA Easel Display Card codes colors and original dealer prices. Just amazing information for collectors!
