The 1973-1974 Rebel fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the Rebel (PRADCO-Plastic Research & Development Corporation) during one of their first years in business.  By 1973, Rebel was gaining steam in the industry and really starting to take off.  Lures they made are popular with fishermen and collectors yet today.  Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.

This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Fish some of these lures.  Take the ones that are a little rough and fish them.  Rebels are a great example of some vintage baits that are dynamite to still fish.

Historical Notes from the 1973-1974 Rebel Catalog

This is one of the classic catalog covers and one of my favorites.  A very early Rebel catalog and it is full of Rebel classics.  The famous Rebel Minnow, Humpback, Racket Shad, Jointed Minnows, Rebel Popper, Super-R, Spoonbill, Windcheater, Rebel Skipper, Spinback, Sea-Gar, Top Prop, Deep Runner, Fastback and more.

It's also great to see a Rebel Boat and a Rebel Trolling Motor towards the end of the catalog.  Not many people associate Rebel with these offerings but there they are in the catalog.  A great piece of fishing history.
