The 1989 Heddon fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by James Heddon's Sons, a Division of PRADCO (Plastic Research and Development Corporation) / EBSCO Industries out of Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Heddon was one of the most influential fishing lure manufacturers of the twentieth century. By 1984, Heddon had been bought out by PRADCO and moved to Fort Smith where it remains today.  This catalog is part of the early Heddon/PRADCO catalogs that really did a great job paying respect to the heritage of Heddon.  They put out some beautiful albeit short catalogs.  While these post Dowagiac lures were originally spurned by collectors, they are now collected almost as much as late Dowagiac baits.

This catalog is part of the My Bait Shop Master Catalog Archive Project (MCAP), a growing digital archive of vintage fishing tackle catalogs and historical reference materials for collectors and researchers.

Collector Tip

Filling a collection can be tough.  Sometimes putting a rougher lure in your case as a placeholder bait until you can upgrade it is a great idea.  Waiting for just excellent baits all the time can really slow your acquisitions and be frustrating.

Remember these lures were made and bought to be fished.

Historical Notes from the 1989 Heddon Catalog

The "Color-C-Lector" continues to be popular in the 1989 catalog.  Page 12 provides a look at some of the lures.  Page 2 shows the expansion of the "G" Finish models.  These were quite popular for awhile and have become more collectible as well.  Great colors to fish or collect.

Below is the complete scanned 1989 Heddon fishing lure catalog. Each page is shown in order so collectors and researchers can study the lure models, finishes, and tackle descriptions used by the Heddon company during this period.
