Heddon 1984 Catalog
1984 Heddon Fishing Lure Catalog
The 1984 Heddon fishing lure catalog provides collectors with a detailed look at the lures and fishing tackle offered by the James Heddon's Sons. This is the last catalog to list Dowagiac, Michigan. Heddon was bought by PRADCO (Plastic Research and Development Corporation) and everything was moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas. A lot of collectors stop collecting after this point. However there were still a lot of great baits made after this time and some are quite collectible. Over time these baits have become more treasured.
Vintage fishing lure catalogs like this are important reference materials for identifying lure models, studying finishes and packaging, and researching the history of classic fishing tackle.

Collector Tip
Catalogs make beautiful collectibles in their own right. Whether you collect entire runs of them or add one or two to your collection. The images and cover art is historical and amazing. Sometimes the catalogs are worth more than the lures themselves. Don't sleep on the value of paper!

Historical Notes from the 1984 Heddon Catalog
This is the last Dowagiac catalog and historic for that reason. You will notice it is quite short at 14 pages as things were winding down. However don't be fooled by this period. While this catalog is short, there were a lot of special colors that came out of Dowagiac during this period that collectors have discovered over the years. Difficult to document at times but amazing in diversity of selection.
